Mission Statement

The Thai Youth Theatre Project (TYT Project) is committed to furthering the art of theatre throughout Thailand in order to encourage confidence and creativity among Thai students. TYT Project promotes youth leadership and greater opportunities for youth to collaborate with peers and community members.
The TYT Project is inspired by the idea that using theatre as a learning tool has the potential to benefit students and their communities on a number of levels. It aims to provide students with opportunities for fostering or improving skills in the areas of creative and critical thinking, English language, business, artistic design, effective leadership, public speaking and presentation, community and peer cooperation, and intercultural understanding. The medium of theatre, supported by a balanced community effort, offers these opportunities in one collective effort, while allowing all to share and contribute in the process, performance, and sustainability of the club.

Recent News

In February 2008, TYT clubs came together to perform in Suphanburi province. Performances ranged from adapted children's stories to Thai cultural presentations to an abridged Othello. Over 300 youth were in attendance.

Sample Schedule

• July Begin getting your club organized, talking to teachers, etc.
• August Continue starting TYT clubs Choose a play for club to produce and adapt it
• September Clubs members finalized, auditions for play, begin rehearsals
• October School Break Begin planning traveling theatre clubs Students should work on memorization throughout 'bid-term'
• November Traveling theatre clubs visit interested sites Rehearse
• December Rehearse Clubs begin fundraising for festival expenses Give festival permission slip & information sheet to parents.
• January Local/Community Performances Continue fundraising and finalize details for travel to Chiang Mai Second Saturday in January each year is Kid's Day. This is a good day for a community performance
• Late January FESTIVAL TIME!! Date and location TBD.
